Description
Deployment is an event, not a projectBuffalo NAS systems come with hard drives pre-installed and RAID already configured to save you time, effort, and setup hassle. With guaranteed interoperability, you get Day One data protection and rapid deployment. Every hard drive goes through a rigorous 5-step testing process, from strict sourcing standards to final quality checks to ensure you get maximum reliability and performance out of the box.
Enhanced Storage and SecurityThe TeraStation 5020 NAS is a secure, all-inclusive turnkey data storage and file server solution designed to optimize file operations for any business environment. The TeraStation 5020 Network Attached Storage is Buffalo’s most secure NAS system yet. It runs on a closed system, with not even the system administrator having root rights. Most competitors’ devices allow third party apps to be installed, which is a possible vector for malware and other cyberthreats. The closed system on the TeraStation NAS bypasses third party apps and the potential vulnerabilities from them to keep the NAS server safe. With pre-tested NAS-grade hard drives included (Enterprise-grade hard drives included for TS51220RH models) and RAID pre-configured, you get out-of-the-box reliability and data protection. The TS5020 also features high storage capacity and Btrfs file system to handle heavy data workloads.
Effortless Data Backup/Restore and Ransomware ProtectionThe TeraStation 5020 utilizes snapshots to quickly save and recover data. A snapshot is essentially a copy of the system data at a given point in time. When needed, you can restore to that point using a snapshot. No matter if a file was accidentally deleted due to user error or a storage volume is locked by ransomware, you can simply revert files and folders to the previously-saved state when the snapshot was created. Snapshots can be created manually or automatically, and can be restored from near instantaneously. Snapshots also take up less space than backup data, allowing you to create a library of granulated restore points for easy file versioning. No matter if it’s a week ago or an hour ago, you can quickly restore a lost or compromised file and be on your way.
Immutable Storage for Next-Level Data ProtectionProtect your data from ransomware and accidental deletion with the built-in immutable snapshot feature—with no licensing fees. Immutable storage ensures that data cannot be altered or deleted once written—providing next-level data protection for regulatory compliance, long-term retention, and business continuity.
Enhanced Login SecurityThe TeraStation 5020 utilizes two-factor authentication (2FA) to add a key layer of login security to ensure that only authorized users can access the NAS. When enabled, users logging in to the TeraStation will also need to enter a verification code along with their username and password. This extra layer of protection helps secure data on your NAS against hackers and ransomware. 2FA can significantly improve data security for your NAS, as it ensures that your login information cannot be easily compromised by threat actors, especially if you are logging in remotely.
Certified Storage for VirtualizationLeverage the benefits of virtualization with the TeraStation 5020. Certified for VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, the TeraStation can back up your virtual environments with a highly-reliable storage solution. Enable fast deployment and integration into Microsoft and VMware virtual environments, and improve working efficiency with increased virtual application performance and greater flexibility in storage capacity planning and allocation, You can also back up virtual machines to the TeraStation to protect your environment from hardware failure.
Fast Transfer Speeds with Native 10GbEMulti-gigabit Ethernet can increase network performance to enable faster data transfer speeds. The TeraStation 5020 NAS with a native 10GbE port is perfect for those who are ready to commit to high-level, multi-gigabit data transfers. By using the same Cat5e cables that are already widely-installed around the office, you can enjoy notably faster network speeds within your network environment at much lower costs.
Cloud Integration for Flexible Storage and BackupYou can use the TeraStation as a private cloud to easily back up data on the network, or integrate cloud services to the NAS storage to establish a hybrid cloud. The NAS server supports popular cloud services such as Amazon S3, Wasabi, Dropbox, or Microsoft Azure/OneDrive that you already use. Reap the full benefits of cloud by retaining greater control over storage capacity and scalability to store data as you see fit. You can also keep non-essential workloads and data in the cloud while storing sensitive or essential data in your local TeraStation NAS server for an extra layer of security.
Proactive Ransomware Protection with Real-Time Threat DetectionStay one step ahead of cyberthreats with the TeraStation’s real-time threat detection feature, which actively identifies and notifies you of unusual file activity that could signal a potential ransomware attack:
File Count/Size/Extension Change Detection: Receive notifications if the number of files, the total size of files, or any file extensions are suddenly changed in a folder
Login Attempt Monitoring: Receive notifications if there are multiple failed login attempts by a certain user or IP address, with the option to temporarily block them
Firewall (Packet Filtering): You can now configure rules that determine which communication is permitted/denied for granulated access protection
The TeraStation also offers a firewall to restrict unauthorized access and an abnormal login detection feature to automatically block suspicious users or IP addresses after multiple login failures to reduce the risk of brute force attacks.
